This blog is new but got PR 1 already. Chelle's e-notebook is only two months old and yet google gave me a PR. Thank you google for giving me a wonderful start this new year. Thank you. I hope next update my PR will go higher. ^_^

Kuraki Mai

So goes Mai Kuraki's favourite phrase. This very young achiever was born on October 29, 1982 and as a child, Mai dreamt of being a piano instructor or an ice cream shop assistant. However, the demo tape she submitted to Giza studio when she was only a junior in high school sealed her fate.

After successfully winning a contract in the said studio, Mai got to work right away. She debuted in the Us under the name Mai-K with the single "Baby I Like." She was instantly noticed and great things were expected from her. Her second single "Love, Day After Tomorrow" did surprisingly well in Japan considering that it was her first single there. More singles came after that and in just a short time, Mai's name was already side by side Japan's biggest female hitmakers namely Hikaru Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki.

"Delicious Way," the first album Mai released, was a great success in Japan having sold more than 3 million copies making it the highest selling album in 2000. Quickly following it after just one year is her second album "Perfect Crime" which unfortunately didn't do as well as her first album garnering only more than 1 million copies sold. To date, seven albums have already been released under her name with five of them bagging the no. 1 spot during its hype.

Mai's influence include the big voices in pop and R & B like Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill and Mariah Carey. It's fairly easy to appreciate her works as there is diversity in it. Her songs vary from pop, dance, ballad, and R & B. And like Utada, Mai writes the lyrics of her songs.

In the anime world, Mai Kuraki is a household name in one of the most popular and long-running mystery series Detective Conan. During the time of it's airing, Mai perforemed about five songs as opening, ending or movie theme for the series. One lovely song from the said saeries is entitled, "Secret of My Heart."

Now at age 25, Mai's star continues to shine brightly as one of the most promising talents in Japan.

Light Onion Soup

The natural sweetness of caramelized onions gives the soup a light, pure flavor.

Take 30 minutes

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 large onions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup beer
Pinch of thyme
Salt
Pepper
3 cups beef broth

Procedure:

1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed stockpot over medium heat, and saute onions. Lower heat and slowly cook onions, allowing them to caramelize, about 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Add beer; simmer for 5 minutes.

3. Add beef broth and thyme. Simmer for 10 minutes. Taste and add salt pepper, if needed. Serve with crusty bread on the side.

Rurouni Kenshin aka Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal

Are you a die hard fan of Rurouni Kenshin? Have you watched the OVA already or you were just watching Samurai X in the TV program? Well, if you haven't watch this OVA, you better watch it.

Strawberry Surprise

Fresh, light, and refreshing - a perfect ending to your meal.

Take 35 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh strawberries
1/2 cup strawberry yogurt
1/2 cup cream
1 to 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Procedure:

1. Set aside 4 strawberries for later. Mix the rest together with all the other ingredients in a blender with all the other ingredients in a blender until smooth.

2. Quarter the four strawberries and fold into the yogurt mixture. Pour into 2 glasses. Chill for 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Serve.

Justin: The Computer Addict

This is my nephew Justin, a 5-year old computer addict. He wakes up early in the morning, around 6 am just to play online games in y8.com.

Actually, he was not a computer addict before but my brother taught this innocent boy how to play computer games and walla there he is. Look at that serious-looking boy. It seems that he's gonna kill the computer monitor. Oh Justin, why did you follow the footsteps of your Tito. You look like your Tito now!

Life's Trials...

Each of us has his own trials. Financial problems, death of a love one, fired from a job, emotional stress and etc. Are you wondering why God allow this things to happen? How will we respond to our troubles?

In the very beginning, there have always been trials and sorrows and there always will be until we get to God’s place, the heaven. God knows what He’s doing when he allow this things to happen to us. He has a beautiful plan for us that He wants us to accomplish. One of the reason why He allow trials to come our way is He wants us to get rid of something that shoudn’t be there… things that would hinder us from getting close to Him.When trials come, God is testing us if we are really devoted to him. He wants to prove the quality of faith we have. God wants us to trust and obey him even in times of trouble. He also uses trials to show us who He really is. He shows his unconditional love to us, his faithfulness, character, and power by helping us in our trials. As God reveals his true character, he also teaching us how to become more like him. More like christ character.

God allow trials to exist because he wants us to become stronger, braver, wiser and to becomea fruitful being. Remember, God will never allow us to have trials that we cannot handle.

I decided to change my header. I think this header is nicer because it fits to the title of my blog: Me and My Food. I hope you like it too.

Monday afternoon

It's almost one o'clock already and I haven't eaten my lunch yet. I was planning to eat but my dad was scolding at us and now I don't have appetite to eat. I don't really know what my dad is feeling. He always shout and scold us. I guess every hour and every minute he scold us. He was not like that before when he was healthy. The incident brought him to that behavior. How I wish I could help my dad bring him to his old behavior.

All I can do today is pray for him. Pray that he will be cured and God will touch his heart so that he will be as kind as a little child.
